Dear and honored teacher,
I am writing to you straight away because, when I was making a copy of the titles of your lectures for Oxford, I had the feeling that with “Man within the Social Order. The Individual and the Community” (= commonwealth), you actually mean “community”. Commonwealth has more to do with the state, but community with people as such in their relationships to one another and as a whole. If you could tell me which word you would have preferred to use in the translation, I will send a postcard to Mrs. Mackenzie. I have already made a comment in the letter.
Tuesday. Hopefully, your health is improving now? I hope that the opening ceremony at school will be quite nice, I will be thinking of it.
Tomorrow afternoon we are photographing some children doing eurythmy therapy, in the hope of getting some good pictures for Anthroposophy.

Sehr verehrter lieber Lehrer,
ich schreibe Ihnen gleich, weil, als ich eine Kopie machte von den Titeln Ihrer Vorträge für Oxford, ich die Empfindung hatte, daß mit «Der Mensch innerhalb der sozialen Ordnung. Das Individuum und die Gemeinschaft» (= commonwealth) Sie eigentlich im Sinne haben «community». Commonwealth hat mehr mit dem Staate zu tun, community jedoch mit den Menschen als solchen in ihren Verhältnissen zueinander und als Gesamtheit. Wenn Sie mir sagen könnten, mit welchem Wort Sie es am liebsten übersetzt haben würden, schicke ich eine Postkarte an Mrs. Mackenzie. Ich habe schon eine Bemerkung in dem Briefe gemacht.
Dienstag. Hoffentlich geht es jetzt gesundheitlich besser? Ich hoffe, daß die Eröffnungsfeier in der Schule recht schön wird, in Gedanken werde ich dabei sein.
Morgen Nachmittag photographieren wir wieder ein paar Toneurythmiekinder, in der Hoffnung, einige tadellose Bilder zu bekommen für «Anthroposophy».
