The bull symbolizes the purely maternal in man. If this were the only thing at work, then bulls would be the result. Therefore, during the time when she is carrying the new life within her, the mother must expend all her strength (unconsciously) to overcome the nature of the bull. The popular expression “mooncalf” in the sense of a deformity points to this origin of the bull's nature. Here again we can see how these popular expressions hold deep secrets. “Mooncalf”, the origin of the bull is to be found in the old moon.
The lion has its origin in the sun; it expresses the purely paternal.
The human being or the angel is that in the human being that passes from incarnation to incarnation.

Der Stier symbolisiert das rein Mütterliche im Menschen. Wenn dieses nur wirken würde, dann würden Stiere entstehen. Darum muss die Mutter in der Zeit, in der sie das neue Leben in sich trägt, alle Kräfte aufwenden (unbewusst), damit die Stiernatur überwunden wird. Der Volksausdruck «Mondkalb» im Sinne einer Missgeburt deutet auf diesen Ursprung der Stiernatur hin. Man kann hier wieder sehen, wie diese Volksausdrücke tiefe Geheimnisse bergen. «Mondkalb», der Ursprung des Stiers ist auf den alten Mond zu verlegen.
Der Löwe, er hat seinen Ursprung auf der Sonne; er drückt das rein Väterliche aus.

Der Mensch ist ungeschickt gegenüber dem Übermenschlichen, darum ist auch das Organ so: Ein ungeschickter Klumpen ist diese Leber. Nun verstehen wir vielleicht etwas davon, warum von dem Geier gesprochen wird, der an der Leber frisst. Tief bedeutungsvoll ist diese Prometheus-Sage.
