Harwich, 4 August 1923
My dear Edith Maryon!
Due to a train delay that occurred in a strange way, the arrival will not take place until today, Saturday, August 4. I will explain why later. Here in the cabin, before arrival, I am sending only the warmest greetings. The journey is now not via London, but directly to Ilkley, where one should arrive today.

Meine liebe Edith Maryon!
Wegen einer auf sonderbare Weise zustande gekommenen Zugverspätung erfolgt die Ankunft erst heute Samstag, 4. August. Warum, das schreibe ich später. Hier vor der Ankunft in der Kabine sende ich nur die herzlichsten Grüße. Es geht nun die Reise nicht über London, sondern direkt nach Ilkley, wo man heute noch ankommen muß.
